Semaglutide
Semaglutide is the first once-weekly medication that is FDA-approved to help with chronic weight management. It was initially designed to help control blood sugar in type 2 diabetes. It works best in combination with a healthy diet and exercise. Adults taking semaglutide lost an average of 15% of their initial body weight.
How Does Semaglutide Work for Weight Loss?
GLP-1 is a hormone that plays a role in your appetite and digestion. They help lower your blood sugar by triggering insulin release and blocking sugar production. It also slows down how quickly food leaves your stomach.

Tirzepatide
Tirzepatide is a prescription injectable medication used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes and to support chronic weight management. It is available under brand names such as Mounjaro for diabetes and Zepbound for weight management.
How Does Tirzepatide Work for weightloss?

Side Effects
The most common side effects are gastrointestinal (GI)-related, including nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and vomiting. Other side effects include stomach pain, headache, fatigue, indigestion, dizziness, bloating, and burping.
In some cases, semaglutide may cause more serious side effects. This medication carries a black box warning, which is the FDA’s most stringent warning for drugs and medical devices on the market. This risk has been seen in animal studies but hasn’t been confirmed in humans. If you have a personal or family history of thyroid tumors or pancreatitis, you should not take semaglutide.
